How long does a judgment lien in Florida last

Q.

How long does a judgment lien in Florida last?

A.

For personal property of the judgment debtor (e.g. vehicles, equipment, furniture), a Judgment Lien Certificate will last 5 years. You could then file for a second 5 years, so basically up to 10 years on personal property, throughout the State of Florida.

For real property (land), it’s different. If a certified copy is re-recorded in that particular county in Florida, the judgment lien on real property can last for 10 years, and it can be renewed for another 10 years, up to 20.
