What does it mean to domesticate a foreign judgment

Q.

What does it mean to domesticate a foreign judgment?

A.

Domesticating a foreign judgment is taking a judgment from another state and turning it into a judgment here in Florida. Conversely, if you’ve got a Florida judgment, and the debtor is now, or has assets, in another state, you’ll need to domesticate your Florida judgment in that other state.
