A construction lien is a claim against real property. In Florida, liens are regulated by Chapter 713 of the Florida Statutes. There are plenty of deadlines involved and procedures, but basically a claim of lien gives a contractor or a subcontractor leverage on a particular piece of property that’s being improved.
